CHIGGER FOOT BOYS -  play about Jamaican soldiers in World War 1 produced by StrongBack Productions and directed by Irina Brown. 

 

THE KEY GAME  - produced by Talawa Theatre Company and directed by Karena Johnson. In rehearsal in September 2018 in New York production.

THE FALLEN ANGEL AND THE DEVIL'S CONCUBINE  - originally produced by Groundwork Theatre Company and directed by Eugene Williams  with subsequent productions in Toronto and New York. 

 

THE RAPIST - Produced by Ed Wallace Productions and directed by Bari Johnson.  Produced throughout the Caribbean and published as part of Champions of the Gayelle.

 

FLAMEHEART -   a docudrama about the life of Harlem Rennaisance poet Claude MacKay.

 

BENNY'S SONG - site specific adaptation of Romeo and Juliet commissioned by the Jamaica National School of Drama and directed by Earl Warner. 

 

BUSS OUT - a devised piece with Sistren Theatre Company directed by Earl Warner.

 

JANE AND LOUISA WILL SOON COME HOME - based on the novel by Erna Brodber and directed by Earl Warner.

 

SIPPLESILVER - Jamaican national pantomime co-written with Dennis Scott.

 

THE HONORABLE ALL PURPOSE AND THE DANCING PRINCESSES - Jamaican national pantomime co-written with Michael Reckord. 

 

PRODUCTIONS

 

WAITING FOR GODOT - UK's first all Black production of Beckett's play.  Directed by Ian Brown, the production ran initially at West Yorkshire Playhouse and then toured. 

 

THE COLORED MUSEUM - by George C. Wolfe at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.  Directed by Don Warrington with musical direction by Dominique Le Gendre.

 

RUM AND COCA COLA  - by Mustapha Matura.  Produced in partnership with West Yorkshire Playhouse and English Touring Theatre and directed by Don Warrington. 

PURE GOLD  - by Michael Bhim.  A co-production with Soho Theatre. 

 

RADIO DRAMA

 

ORIGINAL 

 

ONE BRIGHT CHILD -  a five part radio drama produced by Marion Nancarrow that won the Race In Media Award for radio drama. 

 

THE DARKEST EYE -  a ninety minute play set during a hurricane produced by Michelle Matherson Frederick.

MR. TROLLOPE AND THE LABOURS OF HERCULES -  45 minute radio play for BBC radio 4 starring Paterson Joseph produced by Marion Nancarrow. 

PARDNA - an original 45 minute radio play broadcast on BBC Radio 4 starring Jo Martin and Angela Wynter produced by Helen Perry. 

 

ADAPTATIONS

MAYA - five part adaptations of four of Maya Angelou's autobiographies for BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour: I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, Gather Together in My Name,  All God's Children Need Travelling Shoes and A Song Flung Up To Heaven. 

BELOVED - ten part adaptation of Toni Morrison's Nobel Prize winning novel for BBC Radio 4.  Directed by Sasha Yevtushenko with a cast that included Nadine Marshall, Danny Sapani,  Gugu M'Batha Raw, Sharon D. Clarke. 

 

THREE STRONG WOMEN - a two hour adaptation of the Prix Goncourt winning novel by Marie NDiaye for BBC Radio Drama Cardiff.  Produced by Helen Perry.  Cast includes Raki Ayola, Nikki Amuka Bird, Jude Akuwudike, Ben Onwukwe, Solomon Israel, and many more.  Part of the European Classics series 2015 on BBC Radio 4 or BBC iplayer.  Finalist  BBC Radio Awards 2016.

 

SMALL ISLAND - a fifteen part adaptation of Andrea Levy's award winning novel for Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 produced by Sally Avens.

 

THE COLOR PURPLE - a ten part adaptation of Alice Walker's classic for Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4 produced by Pauline Harris.  Won a Sony Silver Award and a larger listenership than the popular radio soap The Archers.

 

THE DARKER FACE OF THE EARTH - a ninety minute adaptation of Rita Dove's play produced by Marion Nancarrow for BBC World Service Drama.

 

THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD -  a sixty minute adaptation of Zora Neale Hurston's novel produced by Marion Nancarrow for BBC World Service Drama.

TOMMIES 22nd AUGUST 1918.  A 45 minute play co-written with Jonathan Ruffle about Black American soldiers serving in World War One and the Black YMCA women secretaries who looked after them.  Broadcast August 22nd, 2018. 

 

WESTWAY  - a radio serial set in a West London doctor's practice produced by World Service Drama. 

 

WRITING THE CENTURY - ALL MY TRIALS - a five part dramatisation of the 1940s letters of Black British sisters, Amy and Muriel Barbour James. 

 

LEGACY - a daily radio soap for Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation.

 

MALVINA'S REVENGE - a daily radio soap for Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation

 

MORTIMER SIMMONDS - daily radio soap for Radio Jamaica.
